Service To Others

"By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another" John 13:35
Brady was busy doing a lot of service this week. Saturday morning he woke up bright and early at 7am to join in "Rake up Meridian" and didn't get home until 11am. I am happy for his willingness to give up a Saturday to help others.

In the Strength of Youth handbook, it says:

"Service to others is one of the most important characteristics of a disciple of Jesus Christ. A disciple is willing to bear other people's burdens and to comfort those who need comfort. Often Heavenly Father will meet the needs of others through you.

At 12 noon he left to help out a Boy Scout Eagle project at Meridian Elementary School.
They repainted things in the parking lot, the drop off zone and playground. He didn't get home until 4pm. He worked hard Saturday.

I am glad that he is willing to do service. On Wednesday night, he was giving service by raking lawns in the neighborhood with our church's young men's youth group.
The Strength of Youth handbook also says:

When serving, look to the Savior as your example. Although He came to earth as the Son of God, He humbly served those around Him.

As you devote yourself to serving others, you will draw closer to Heavenly Father. Your heart will be filled with love. Your capacity will increase, and your life and the lives of those around you will be blessed.

  3. What a wonderful young man! I love reading about the youth who are doing things like they are supposed to. I have little girls (two of whom are now young women) and I love it when these kids catch the service bug. It is amazing the things they do! Last night, they all brought donated foods and made thanksgiving baskets for some of the ward members. I was at work, and my daughter went to the dollar store and used all her own money to buy the stuffing to put in the baskets. These kids are amazing!!!
