Ponderize Scripture Nov 30 - Dec 6

Week: Nov. 30 - Dec 6, 2015

PONDERIZE. (Ponder and Memorize) Feast upon his words.

Don't forget to save a little money each week too!!

These 2 principles will lead to a better life.
I've been trying to think how to do the Nativity story in 5 scriptures through December to ponderize. I decided I'd put a group of scriptures to ponderize on my fridge each week through the month that is about the Saviors Birth.

I'll start with when Samuel the Lamanite proclaims the birth:

Helaman 14:
2 And behold, he said unto them: Behold, I give unto you a sign; for five years more cometh, and behold, then cometh the Son of God to redeem all those who shall believe on his name.

3 And behold, this will I give unto you for a sign at the time of his coming; for behold, there shall be great lights in heaven, insomuch that in the night before he cometh there shall be no darkness, insomuch that it shall appear unto man as if it was day.

4 Therefore, there shall be one day and a night and a day, as if it were one day and there were no night; and this shall be unto you for a sign; for ye shall know of the rising of the sun and also of its setting; therefore they shall know of a surety that there shall be two days and a night; nevertheless the night shall not be darkened; and it shall be the night before he is born.

5 And behold, there shall a new star arise, such an one as ye never have beheld; and this also shall be a sign unto you.

I'll probably end up singing the Primary Song all week: "Samuel Tells of the Baby Jesus"
1. Said Samuel, "Within five years
A night will be as day,
And Baby Jesus will be born
In a land far, far away."

Chous:
Hosanna! Hosanna!
Oh, let us gladly sing.
How blessed that our Lord was born;
Let earth receive her King!

2. Across the sea, in Bethlehem,
Lord Jesus came to earth
As Samuel had prophesied,
And angels sang His birth.

Jason's Wreck

November 10th, 2015 Jason was involved in a wreck which totalled his car.
Luckily he wasn't severely injured during the wreck. His car did not have any air bags. He hit the stirring wheel pretty hard with his hand and chest. We thought his hand might be broken but after a few days it seemed to be OK.

He didn't go to the hospital because he felt he would be fine.

He had bruising on his chest, especially where the seat belt was.

His knee hit the dashboard and was pretty sore for a week.

Overall, he was really lucky he wasn't hurt and could walk away.
Jason was not at fault. He was going straight through a green light when some stupid driver pulled right in front of him making a left hand turn.
This stupid driver was trying to out run the cars and turned in a diagonal way. Jason slammed on his break trying to avoid the wreck but he was going 35 - 40 miles an hour going through the light because it was green.

The impact was so bad that the rear axle and tire of the other drivers car came completely off.

What makes me REALLY mad about this is that the other driver's insurance is All State. They are stating that Jason had 10% of the fault. What a crock! Also, All State got off easy, no medical bills, no rental car and it was an older cheaper vehicle. I can't believe they are trying to screw Jason with what is owed to him.

How can he be at fault when Jason had the green light was going straight and the other driver turned in front of him? We are continuing the fight with All State - I can't believe they are putting any blame on Jason for this wreck - Argh!
He didn't get much for his car - a 1993 Ford Escort, but he did get some money. He found a 1984 Ford Bronco with 146K miles on it for $800. It runs and will get him where he needs to go without getting into debt.
At least he has wheels again to get him where he needs to be. It's such a manly vehicle.

Unfortunately, It's so tall that I can't get into it without a helpful lift and push. ha ha ha!
The big kicker of this whole wreck is this:

Jason is currently going through a divorce which is now final.

His ex-wife received the paperwork for the yearly registration renewal for his car and never told him or forwarded to our home.

She also - without notifying us, took his car off of the insurance plan but couldn't remove Jason as an inusred driver until the divorce was final.

They day before the wreck Jason got pulled over for expired registration and we found out that he didn't have a current insurance card in his car. The fine was $198.

The next day and the day of his wreck, he went and re-newed his car and found the current registration card.

Then he got in a wreck. Just think of the damage that would have happened if the wreck was Jason's fault. He would have been ruined financially - just because of the actions of his ex-wife.

I don't understand her doing this stuff without notifying us. It's just mean and I am so mad at her for putting us in this risk.

Since Jason was an insured driver we were able to get the ticket for no insurance waved, but we still had to pay the ticket for expired registration - $69.

When I went through a divorce I was so nice about everything. It would never cross my mind to put someone whom I had loved into this type of risk. I'm so disappointed with this type of stuff. Unfortunately I've loved Sharon as a daughter and this behavior has completely burned the bridge on any relationship I might have had with her in the future. It makes me sad.

Now that the divorce is final - November 14th - we just move on.

We were lucky that the wreck wasn't Jason's fault. I shutter think what could have happened and am thankful that it all worked out and Jason has a car again and can move on with his life.

Preparing My Yard For Winter

Preparing my yard for winter is always a big job. Pulling out all the annual flowers out of the ground and cutting down all the perennials.

My city has free leaf and plant pick up in November. I try to get my yard completely cleaned up during this free pick up time. Our city ran the free pick up November 2 - 20th. That gave me 3 weeks to completely get it cleaned up.

It's funny but I always wonder why I have so many flower beds in the spring and in the fall. It's such a huge job during these seasons. But, I have to admit that I do love to enjoy all the beauty it brings all summer long. One day as I get older, I plan to have most of the flower beds removed because it's such a big job.
While I was at Home Depot picking up the paper lawn garbage bags for recycling I saw a great deal on spring flower bulbs. I decided to get some and plant more flower to add to the spring beauty as the world awakens once again.
After cleaning up my berm, I planted all these bulbs - 240 bulbs on top of what I already have planted in my berm. It should be a beautiful sight if the squirrels don't dig them all up during the winter.
Bags and bags of garden clean up to be recycled and this is only 1 week out of the 3 weeks I put out bags of foliage from my gardens. I love free pick ups and the ability to recycle all the foliage from my gardens.
We had our first light snow storm November 17th. It didn't last long and the roads were clean - which just happens to be my favorite kind of snow storm. You can see all my little flower beds are all cleaned up for winter.

I've built lots of fires in my fire place and absolutely love the hardwood - firewood I purchased this year. It's nice and cozy to have a fire built, nice soothing music playing through the house and sitting a reading a book. Some of my favorite things in life.

I'm blessed to have a strong body to take care of my yard.
I'm blessed to have a beautiful warm home.
I'm blessed to live in Idaho where I can enjoy 4 seasons of weather and all the beauty each season brings!

A Thanksgiving Home

It's November and of course my decorations need to change to reflect Thanksgiving.
"Turkeys Welcome" hanging on my front door.
A Turkey flag waving in the fall breeze.
On the inside of my front door are a couple of crafts from Brady. Unfortunately I didn't keep anything from Jason - The blessings of having children 10 years apart - now I am an older wiser mom that saves these cherished things verses a young hurried mom that didn't keep much after a season passed with pictures on the refrigerator.
 Piano decorations,
 Indians and Pilgrims
I made this cute turkey several years ago at a Relief Society craft night.
Mr. and Mrs. Turkey on the coffee table.
A larger view of my living room. Notice the cute turkey hanging on the wall. Brady made that in school from a wire hanger and a nylon and then added paper feathers and legs. It's one of my favorite decorations for Thanksgiving. So cute.
 More Indians, turkey and Pilgrims.
The bottom of this table is the horn of plenty, a huge pine cone turkey, Thanksgiving subway art, and a fun booklet that Brady made when he was young. I love that I kept these mementos.
 "Gather Together with Thankful Hearts"
Also another favorite decoration is my beautiful Indian girl. I only bring her out for Thanksgiving. She is beautiful. My mom gave her to me several years ago.
Scarecrows on top of my refrigerator (they were there during October/Halloween but I didn't add them to my Halloween decoration blog).
The window above my kitchen sink turned from a Halloween Potion center to Indians, turkey and Pilgrims.
More on top of my microwave. "Be Ye Thankful"
Dining room cupboard. Turkey's and Pilgrims.
My sister Chris gave me these blocks "Give Thanks" and are at the edge of kitchen breakfast bar.
On the back of the blocks, it says "Jingle Bells" for Christmas.
Of course my build a bear turkey.
When I change seasonal decorations, I put all the old ones (Halloween) all on the bed of my spare bedroom. Then I carefully wrap them all in tissue paper and load them into totes until next year.
They are all wrapped up and put away.

Happy Thanksgiving!
