Uncle Leo Dursteler Obituary

Leo Carl Dursteler, 85, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015 in Pocatello, Idaho (on Easter Day).

Leo was born September 5, 1929 to Henrich "Henry Rudolph and Clemma Drucilla Long Dursteler in Whitney, Idaho. Leo was raised and educated in Cub River, Idaho.

He married Shirley Ruth Seamons July 27, 1953 and she was the love of his life. They moved to Soda Springs, Idaho in 1964. Later they had three girls, Dana (Lynn) Moore, Jody (Jerry) Dietz, Lori (Scott) Forsgren.

Leo loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He always enjoyed being on the fam and wanted to be a farmer. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his girls, fourteen grandchildren, and two sisters, Jean Maisey of ND and Zoey Murray of Idaho. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, his parents, eight brothers and one sister.

Services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015 at noon at the Soda Springs Hooper LDS Chapel. The family will visit with friends on Thursday 6-7 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Friday 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery.

Aunt Jean and my Mom Zoey are the only living children left from this family.

SODA SPRINGS — Shirley Ruth Seamons Dursteler, 71, of Soda Springs, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2006, at the Caribou Memorial Hospital in Soda Springs. She was born December 3, 1934, at Preston, Idaho, the daughter of Daniel Duane and Alice Gamble Saxton Seamons. Shirley was raised and educated in Preston, she had also lived in Paul, Idaho. Kimberly, Idaho and the last 42 years in Soda Springs. She married Leo Dursteler July 22, 1953 in Preston.



Shirley bowled on a league with her daughters for a few years; she enjoyed reading, watching football and baseball. She loved her family and was extremely proud of her grandchildren. 

Shirley is survived by her husband, Leo Dursteler of Soda Springs; three daughters and their spouses, Dana Lea (Lynn) Moore, Soda Springs, Jody (Jerry) Dietz, Pocatello, and Lori (Scott) Forsgren, Corinne, Utah; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald (Carole) Seamons, Preston, Idaho; two sisters; Gwen (Bob) Hadley, Swan Lake, Idaho, Linda Griggs, Phoenix, Ariz.; and a brother-in-law, Johnny Martin, Preston, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Fern Martin. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, October 30 at noon at the Hooper LDS Chapel. Friends may call on Sunday evening, Oct. 29 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Monday at the church from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs. 

Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
