I Know That My Redeemer Lives

Happy Easter
“No force beneath the heavens could hold back the power of the Son of God. It was as if His Almighty Father could stand no more. The earth trembled. The guards fled. The stone was moved. The Lord arose… and stepped forth to become the first fruits of them that slept. The empty tomb bore testimony of this greatest of all miracles.” –Gordon B. Hinckley

The First Missionaries Preach the Gospel

My favorite thing to do is make Missionary Badges for each child. You can access the print out for the badges from Sugardoodle here:

I print out the badges on white card stock, cover each badge with "lament" clear contact paper because I don't own a lamentor. Then I hot glue a pin on the back of each badge (I find them at Micheal's or Craft Warehouse in the jewelry making section).

I print out on card stock, cut out and fasten together with a brad and had out already put together.

Easter Surprises

Thursday while I was cleaning another of my customers, Mary Kay was there packing for a spring break trip to California. She showed me the cutest bunny she had purchased for Easter. It was made out of straw and had the coolest texture. Plus it was big a good 2 feet high. I loved it and asked her where she bought it. I told her that I needed to stop by Cost Plus Market to buy one too.

A little while later she asked me for my car keys because she needed to move my car and switch the cars in the garage. So I gave it to her and continued to clean. She left before I was done.

When I started to load my car I noticed a nice surprise inside.
That sneaky Mary Kay had given me the bunny.
She also gave me a matching wreath.
She spoiled me - I just can't believe she did that. It was an amazing feeling to be appreciated and loved enough for her to give me such a great Easter gift. Mary Kay is always doing kind things for me. I just love her!

It made my day and I was extremely touched and full of joy.

As I made my way to the next house in the Boise foothills, I saw my first Pop Corn Tree.
So I sang Pop Corn Popping on the Apricot tree the rest of the way - cause I'm silly like that.
I love spring and seeing all the beautiful daffodils and crocus popping out of the ground.

Ups and Downs of a Day in My Life

Wednesday I found myself in a delightful situation. When I arrived at my customer's house I found out they were still out of town since I had cleaned last. That meant that I all had to do was dust and freshen things up, vacuum and mop the floor. There was no need to re-clean a kitchen or bathroom that hadn't been used. It was a very quick day and the only customer I had.

This customer also has their lawyer business in the basement, which is easy too. The office manager was there while I cleaned. I came across a loose jewel and told her I found a jewel and put it on her desk. It was a diamond that had fallen out of her engagement ring.
She had been looking everywhere for it and praying that it would be found. She looked along the sidewalk as she walked, she looked in her car, her own house, the office but hadn't found it. She thought it was lost forever and was broken hearted. She was thrilled that I found it. It was such a nice feeling that I was an answer to a prayer. What a joyful way to start the day!!
I had noticed that my car had a flat tire a few days before (my second car - not the one I was driving to work). Since I had returned home early that day, I decided it needed to be fixed. I had filled it up a couple of days earlier at a gas station and it was becoming flat again. I debated if I should change the tire with the spare, but decided to risk it to drive a few blocks to Big O.

I was worried that I wouldn't make it and would indeed have to change it - so I was hurrying. Unfortunately I must have been speeding when blue and red lights started up behind me. DARN!

The police officer asked me how fast I had been going - and I did notice that I was going 32 a little before he pulled me over (in a 25 mile speed zone). He said that he clocked me going 37 but I had slowed down - he assumed that was because I had seen him. I really hadn't seen him until he pulled me over - because I was worried about my tire. He asked me where I was going and I told him I had a flat tire and was going to Big O. He nodded and told me he noticed it was low.

I was sick! I haven't had a speeding ticket in my whole life. I was ashamed and sad that I would be getting one now. Also I just knew that my tire would flatten all the way and I would have to change it.
Then a 2nd police officer pulled up behind him. I was jolted and scared to death. Really, I'm a good law abiding citizen - why did there need to be 2 police cars pulling me over. I was mortified.

I waited... Watched the 2nd police officer speak to the first one. Then he walked back to his car and left... I let out the breath of air that I was holding.

Finally the police officer came to my window and said he would only give me a warning. What?? Yippee!!! I was relieved and shocked. Luckily for me, I know there isn't one thing on my driving record and I am sure that is why I didn't get a ticket.

I decided to risk going the next block to Big O on my (hopefully) not completely flat tire. I made it.

My tire was fixed quickly and I found out that there had been a screw in it. Oh happy day! I was able to get there without having to change the tire and have it fixed.

It was a good day!

You can bet that I am currently more aware of my speed limit. If I get pulled over again after I had just received a warning, I will be sure to get a ticket. I don't want to ruin my perfect driving record. Now I am just a safe law abiding good driver on the road - thanks to that little jolt.

Aunt Vinora Dursteler (1921 - 2013)

PRESTON - Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Virgia Vinora Hansen Dursteler passed away at the age of 91 on March 13, 2013, in Preston, Idaho. She was the first child of six born to Niels Wilford Hansen and Tora Virgia Wilde in Mink Creek, Idaho. The snow was higher than the fence posts Dec. 20, 1921, but that didn't stop Vinora's arrival with a little tuff of red hair at her neck. Being raised on the family farm delighted Vinora. She grew into a beautiful strawberry blonde and Randell Long Dursteler fell in love with her and proposed on their second date. They were married in the Franklin County Courthouse on Feb. 17, 1941, and their union was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on Jan. 13, 1943.

Their first home was in the High Sierras of California. That was timber country and they loved their tiny cabin in the pines of Plumas. After World War II, Randy and Vinora made their home in Preston, Idaho. Their children Randa Kathrine, Marlin Wade and Kimberly Ane enjoyed many happy years in a home where love, honor, mutual respect and friendship was key and strived for each day. Vinora loved being a wife, a mother and a homemaker. Her natural abilities and talent for the arts and gardening made their home beautiful and comfortable. Vinora's quality touch was in everything she did.

She loved to sew and embroider, sketch and paint, ride horses, play cards and horseshoes, and go fishing and camping with her sweetheart and children. When her grandchildren started arriving, all was expanded to include each one in all the campouts and cookouts and fishing trips. Vinora could do anything!

She served in many capacities as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She especially enjoyed the Franklin Stake Beehives, the nursery children in the Preston 2nd Ward and a 13-year mission as a French extractor in the Family History Department. Being a good neighbor and a good visiting teacher meant the world to Vinora.

She was preceded in death by her dear ones Randell and Randa; daughter-in-law Kathy Smout Dursteler; son-in-law Ray N. Keller; three sisters, Adria Mecham, MarDene Sparrow and Ane Ora Nielson; and brother Wilford Hugh Hansen. She is survived by Wade and Kim and 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and her beloved brother John C. Hansen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 East in Preston, Idaho, with Bishop Mark Beckstead conducting. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Preston City Cemetery.

Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com.

Important Ordinances are Restored

Journal Page:
When John the Baptist baptized Jesus in the River Jordan, a sign was given to show that the Holy Ghost was present. To see what that sign was, start at the arrow and fill in all the space between the lines. Do not cross any lines. When you have finished, ask a parent to read aloud Matthew 3:16 [Matt. 3:16] and John 1:29–33 and explain them to you.
