Warrior Cross Country 2011 Camp

Warrior Mountain Running Camp was July 26 through July 30, 2011

The camp was still held at our old Coach Rusty's family ranch about 25 minutes south of Cascade Idaho. (Rusty moved to Pennsylvania where his wife is in graduate school on a scholarship - she is really smart). Rusty left his teaching and coaching position in Meridian last year to move there with his wife.

The location of Rusty's family property is the perfect place to get away from the monotony and agony of city running and be refreshed right before the 2011 season starts. Girls stayed upstairs and the boys slept downstairs in the large room.

There are not too many places where they could spend a week training at a higher elevation, receive top running advice from experienced coaches, bond with teammates and new friends, and get to run twice a day at amazing new locations. The time they spent there will be remembered for the rest of the year.
Brady barreling down a mountain hill. He is able to pick up great speed coming down the mountains.
Hanging out on the swing with a couple of girls. *grin
(so far there have been a few pictures on face book and I am posting the pictures with Brady in them).

Here they are in the great room with Ryan entertaining them with music. There was a ping pong table and other games. They had an amazing time when they were not training and running.

Their daily schedule was something like this:
7:30 AM - Wake-up
8:00 AM - Morning Run
10:00 - 12:00- Brunch and 1st clinic
12:30 - 1:30 - Guest Speaker
2:00 - 3:00 - Camp Activity
3:30 - 5:00 Afternoon Run
5:30 PM - Dinner
6:30 PM - 2nd Clinic
7:30 PM - Night Activities
10:30 PM - Lights Out

Activities included: Clinics, making the XC course look great, games, competitions, running and much more.
The kids were divided into 3 teams. Brady was on "The White Kenyans". This was their flag.
Here are shots of Brady when he returned home wearing the T-Shirt he made.
It was a fluke that:
One team always came in first.
The next team always came in second.
And Brady's team - The White Kenyan's always came in last.

Oh well, they had a great time competing and having fun together.

The Cross Country season officially begins on August 8th (although he has been running with them most of the summer - when he has been available). This will be Brady's last year in High School. I am sure it will be a great year for him to wrap up 4 years on the Cross Country Team.

Sure looks like he had a great time. How great to have a place like that and share it with others. I bet they will all remember the fun.

I'm behind on blogging but I will be posting about this soon too.
Taylor is still talking about it and telling me stories - they all definately had a blast!!
And Brady kept his clothes on!! Every picture I see of Taylor he only has itty bitty running shorts on - Geez!!!
I thought it was nice of Rusty (his family) to let the team use the cabin even though he wasn't there. I was kinda hoping he would surprise them and show up.
