Motivational Monday - "Meaning of Pledge of Allegiance

The Meaning Of The Pledge Of Allegiance

I PLEDGE - I promise

ALLEGIANCE - To be loyal...this means you respect the flag and will be loyal and true to your country

TO THE FLAG - to our country's symbol...the flag should always remind you of our country

OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - of our country...The United States is the name of our country

AND TO THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IT STANDS - and to the government of our country...a republic is the type of government that elects their leaders

ONE NATION UNDER GOD - our country which believes in God...the tern 'nation' is another word for country

INDIVISIBLE - cannot be divided...our country is one that will not be separated or divided

WITH LIBERTY - with freedom...in America, we believe that all people are equal and have the same rights. As a nation we have many freedoms including freedom of speech, religion and peaceable assembly

AND JUSTICE FOR ALL - and fairness to everyone...each person is to obey the laws of our country. If the law is broken, that person shall be innocent, or without fault, until proven guilty in a court of law.

I really liked this. I had never seen this broken down. It helps make it more clear (I guess you would say).
Can I copy this to place in my word folder? This is good to have around.
THanks for sharing!!

The pledge becomes so repetetive that we don't really think about it as we say it.
Thanks for breaking it down for us to see.

For some reason this post made me think back to elementary school and how I used to love being a safety patrol and having pledge duty. We got to go into the principal's office and say the pledge over the intercom each morning. I loved it!

This is great. I agree with Connie we know it by heart and we say it but do we really think about or know what all the words mean.

Thanks for this!!
