Recipe for Creamy Cheesy Broccoli and White Sauce

I don't know what to really call this vegetable recipe. This is a family favorite and we always have it with our Thanks giving dinner. For home making meeting this week, we had a dinner and I signed up to bring my favorite vegetable.

Here is the recipe for Creamy Cheesy Broccoli:

Bag of frozen broccoli cooked in boiling water. Rinse and put in a pan.
Cover broccoli with a can of mushrooms (drained).
Cover with white sauce.
Recipe for white sauce. (I used 3 servings for my dish of broccoli or 3 times the ingredients below):
2 tablespoons margarine or butter
2 tablespoons all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 cup milk (Oh yeah-I used my powdered milk in my fridge and it works great!)
Heat butter in sauce pan over medium heat until melted. Stir in flour, salt and pepper. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly (I use a whisk) until mixture is smooth and bubbly; remove from heat. Stir in milk. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. (this equals one cup of sauce).
If you want to make cheese sauce, prepare white sauce as directed - except - stir in 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard with the flour. After boiling and stirring sauce 1 minute, stir in 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
For this recipe I use the basic white sauce and then top with shredded cheese.

Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly. Yummy!
